Site Description: Collaborative genealogical research effort for the Blains of Delaware County, OH, and related families. The family migrated west from Hunterdon Co., New Jersey, thru Luzerne Co., and surrounding areas of Pennsylvania, on to Muskingum Co., OH and Zanesville (and surrounding areas), to Harlem and Brown Township, Delaware Co., Emerald Township, Paulding Co., OH, and on to Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Wisconsin, Canada, and elsewhere.
Alam Blain, revolutionary war soldier, and probable brother of Benjamin and John Blain, married Catherine Reed in Hunterdon Co., NJ. They had 14 children, eleven surviving, in the following 25 years -- Elizabeth, Joseph, Mary (Polly), Jacob, Anna, Catherine, John, William, Luke, George, Abraham and Elam (the names of the children are undocumented at this time). The children were born from New Jersey to Pennsylvania. Other distinguished family members include Elem J. Blain, Justice of the Peace of Harlem Township, Solomon and Elem J. Blain Jr., civil war soldiers. Edward Blain, child of Sarah Cockrell who changed his name to Blain. Joseph Blain who preserved and passed on his family Bible. All are represented here. We hope to learn more about the many offspring of Alam and Catherine, and to eventually learn of Alam's parents.
Sirnames include BLAIN(E) BLANE, COCKRELL, REED, FERGUSON, STANLEY, BENNET, CRAVEN, DIXON, COLE, MILLER, PACE, and many more.
If you have an interest in this line of Blains, please contact the site administrator at judyb.vaughan@verizon.net. We are always on the lookout for lost cousins who represent different branches of our tree.
